EXPERIENCE

Drawing upon a unique combination of more than twenty years of technology, legal, policy and business experience, Ryan Johnson brings seasoned, multidisciplinary perspective to the many complex issues facing businesses and governments today in the areas of Information Governance, Data Privacy, Security and Compliance.. Mr. Johnson is an established business advocate with an extensive background in data protection, tech procurement, IP matters and government relations. In addition to his law degree, Mr. Johnson holds several IT industry certifications and is a Certified Information Privacy Professional in Data Privacy Law.

SPEAKING AND TEACHING

Mr. Johnson serves as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Arizona Summit Law School where he teaches Law Practice Technology, preparing future attorneys on the many uses of technology in today’s legal markets. Mr. Johnson also serves as a Subject Matter Expert at Grand Canyon University  responsible for Data Privacy Law course design in addition to lecturing graduate students on complex legal issues such as; Enterprise Cyber Law and Business Law & Ethics.

He has commented on and advised Arizona state legislators on pending legislation with legal issues pertaining to the use of technology.

PUBLICATIONS

Mr. Johnson is a published author of the bestselling book, “Mind Hacks for Bar Exam Success!”   He has also authored numerous articles on information security, data integrity, cloud integration, Cryptocurrencies and regulatory compliance.

BOARD MEMBERSHIP

Ryan serves on  the board of Future Leaders, an Arizona based non-profit organization designed to give low-income youth experience and exposure at leading tech companies in the valley. Ryan also sits on the board of a financial institution with over 2.5b in assets.

PAST EXPERIENCE 

Ryan is a certified data privacy & cybersecurity attorney, experienced IT engineer, public speaker and published author with over 20 years experience with enterprise technology. In his current roles, he serves as Chief Privacy Officer, Subject Matter Expert and Corporate Counsel specializing in Data Privacy & Cybersecurity law. Past roles include, but not limited to; the Technology Director for the Phoenix based law firm, Baird Williams & Greer, LLP where he led the firm’s technology department (IT, web, news media, social media), including strategic planning. Provided legal counsel in the areas of intellectual property, consumer law and data privacy guidance in connection to existing and proposed regulations. In addition, Mr. Johnson has extensive experience structuring, drafting, and negotiating tech development, licensing, procurement and other commercial agreements.

Mr. Johnson was solely responsible for the design and launch of Arizona Summit Law School’s new and innovative Law Practice Technology course offered to 2L and 3L students. He continues to receive high praises and evaluations from students, faculty and administration.

Before joining Arizona Summit Law School’s faculty, Mr. Johnson taught business law and ethics at Grand Canyon University where he continues to serve as a Subject Matter Expert tasked with designing newly offered courses on Enterprise Cyber Law and Compliance Strategies.

Before teaching and serving as Technology Director, Mr. Johnson worked as an IT network and system engineer for a variety of Fortune 500® companies throughout Michigan and Arizona. Past responsibilities included, but not limited to; telecommunication infrastructure design, implementation and repair, as well as data center design and configuration. Mr. Johnson has worked for the Arizona Cardinal’s in managing day-to-day IT infrastructure management including flawless execution of game-day technology.
